The Archdiocese of Colombo inaugurated the Year of Priests with Archbishop Gomis presiding at the Eucharistic Celebration and a Day of Prayer on 19th June at the Sacred Chapel in the Archbishop's House. Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI declared this year as the Year of Priests. "Faithfulness of Christ, Faithfulness of Priests "

His Grace the Archbishop Oswald Gomis presided at the Festive Eucharistic celebration of the Feast of the Chapel in the Archbishop's House and declared the beginning of the Year of Priests.

Rev. Fr. Cecil Joy Perera, the Archdiocesan Coordinator for Liturgy published a Book on Prayers for Priests. Book is available in the Liturgy Office in the Archbishop's House, Borella.

In evening Fathers gathered for the Hour of Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament which was followed by Solemn Benediction.
