FIRST TRAIN TO MADHU FROM SOUTH AFTER 29 YEARS

Archdiocesan pilgrimage to Madhu Shrine, organized by His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm, commenced on 24th May 2013. A special train carrying the pilgrims to Madhu began the journey from Beruwala station and will reach Madhu Road station.

The long awaited train services to Madhu road segment of the Northern Railway Track was inaugurated 14th May 2013 by the government, which will enable thousands of pilgrims to reach Madhu Shrine through train services.The public in and around Madhu expressed their profound happiness on the completion of the first segment of Medawachchiya - Talaimannar line well ahead of the Madhu Church festival in August. Today's special train to Madhu Road was first one after 29 years since the war in North & East.

His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo, intiated special pilgrimage to Madhu Shrine in this Year of Faith and the Retreat will conclude on Sunday, 26th May. Special talks would be given in all three languages and His Eminence will preisde at the solemn Mass on Saturday.
