Dear Rev. Fathers,
We are gathered today as a Presbyterium for the 9th time within the first four and a half years of the present Archbishop in order to take stock of our pastoral programmes and the ups and downs of our life as a diocesan Church. Presbyteral meetings are important in order to plan and organize our work together and thereby share in the mission of the Church. The challenges facing us are manifold. Ever since my stewardship of the Archdiocese began I have tried my very best to ensure that I take all the important decisions as consultatively as possible deciding with the Presbyterium on our basic orientations; the College of Priests or the Priests Senate on pastoral prioritizing; the Administration Council on the day to day administrative decisions and the Finance Committee on all matters concerning finances and the Management of our Archdiocesan assets. The Presbyteral meetings, as you know, are held twice annually while the Priests Senate meets thrice in the year and the Administration Council and the Finance Committee have been meeting practically every month. Besides these, there are other consultative bodies established and functioning. Among these the Assets Management Committee for forward planning and the Estates Committee on the Management of the Archdiocesan properties.
