A colleague of late Fr. Mervyn Fernando, Rev. Fr. Anthony Fernando who worked with him for many years writes about his life thus.

I make this short presentation on Reverend Father Mervyn Fernando with gratitude to God Our Loving Father in heaven for the privilege He gave me to work closely with Fr. Mervyn for several years at Subodhi, the Institute of Integral Education.

Fr. Mervyn was an exemplary human being and a priest and he knows what it is to be human and begins to live meaningfully and grows up as one should. He started, therefore, the Subodhi Institute, the Institute, of integral education, especially for the young, boys and girls, be that they would take the Leadership of their own lives and organize and grow up to become what they really should be and give glory to God as men and women fully alive. In doing this Fr. Mervyn was inspired by St. Augustine who said "Glory of God is man fully alive".

Fr. Mervyn know, in this regard, that the human family, the first school of love, must be will formed in order to  provide a healthy loving environment for the life education of their children. He inaugurated. Therefore, the family apostolate with marriage Encounter and enriching programs that became very popular and enriching.

Fr. Mervyn was also a lover of nature and he used his God-given talents and scientific knowledge to explore the outer space paying special attention on the movements of the stars which also became a very attractive subject.

Fr. Mervyn lived a life of simplicity despite his comprehensive knowledge, talents and skills and lived a friendly life, easily approachable to all who came to visit him.

May the youth apostolate of Integral Education for life, started by Fr. Mervyn, specially continue it life - enriching mission with the talented staff of Subodhi Institute and be a blessing to all who follow it.
