Presbyteral family in the Archdiocese bids farewell to His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Fernando as he leaves Archdiocese to take up the diocese of Mannar .

His Lordship has served the Archdiocese of Colombo for more that forty five years, said His Eminence Malcom Cardinal Ranjith in his farewell speech. He added that His Lordship has served the Archdiocese during those years in many capacities in parishes, apostolates, and taking up posts such as episcopal vicar, Rector of the National Seminary, Dean. It had been a pleasure to work with him as a auxiliary of Colombo, he commented.

His L ordship Emmanuel Fernando thanked the Presbyteral family of the Archdiocese, and very especially His Eminence and the auxiliary bishop Maxwell Silva for the innumerable support rendered to him during the past few years in many tasks he has undertaken. As he requested prayers of the Presbyteral family for the new responsibility he takes up as the bishop of Mannar, it was well spoken by many that he will be able to bridge North and South with his bilingual ability and the experience he had gained as the Rector of the National Seminary taking care of Sinhalese and Tamil brothers.

We wish you dear Bishop Emmanuel AD MULTOS ANNOS VIVAT
